auka (2022) was written for Ensemble 3030 and premiered on the 24th of November 2022 in Majorstua kirke in Oslo, Norway.The title auka comes from the Norwegian written language «nynorsk» and means that something has increased. The piece is built around swelling chords moving around in the ensemble’s register. These swells increase in size, both dynamically and in time. Sometimes they emerge out of an upward or downward movement, other times they expand and change on their own.
