Errare will be performed at Beats during Boundaries.
Eetu Lehtonen (b.1989) is a Finnish composer whose output ranges from concert pieces to film scores and music for Chinese orchestra. As a composer, Lehtonen is interested in bridging the gap between different aesthetics and traditions, as well as searching for new sonorities using electronics and non-Western instruments.

Errare

Errare took its inspiration from the digitalization that happened during our everyday lives under the COVID-19 era. The piece embraces glitch and noise aesthetics, influenced by the various errors and bugs encountered in remote communications. The instruments get stuck repeating the same patterns over and over, are replaced by their digital equivalents or are disrupted by abrupt glitches. Any progress the piece makes is eventually met with stagnation. The overall soundscape becomes increasingly digital, cold and distant, but through this also seems to find order in the chaos.
